Morrow will speak at 1 p.m. and again at 6 p.m. in the main library’s Close Community Room. Her presentation will include archival photos and highlight Wooden’s Indiana ties. Born in 1910, Wooden grew up on a Morgan County farm near the hamlet of Centerton, helped his Martinsville High School basketball team compete in three state championships, earned All-America honors playing guard at Purdue University, taught and coached at South Bend Central High School, and coached two years at Indiana State Teachers College in Terre Haute before heading to California in 1948. It was there, at UCLA, that he created a basketball dynasty and solidified his place as one of the sporting world’s greats.
