Did you know you can renew items and place holds online? Sign into Your Account using your library card number (the number under the barcode) and your PIN.
If you don’t have a four digit PIN, you can set one up at any of our public service desks.
Get a Library Card
Residents and property owners in the city of Auburn or Union Township are eligible for library cards, for no additional charge. To apply for a library card, you must show a picture ID and proof of address. We accept the following documents: valid Indiana driver’s license or state ID card, printed checks with current address, bank statement issued within the last 60 days, vehicle registration, current property tax statement, or current utility bill. If you are under the age of 18, come with your parent or guardian.
Active cardholders at Butler Public Library and Garrett Public Library may borrow from Eckhart Public Library, and visa versa, through our reciprocal borrowing program. You must have a signed form from your home library in order to sign-up.
Subscriptions & Student Cards
Those living outside of Eckhart Public Library’s taxing district may purchase a subscription card annually. The cost of a subscription is based on how much funding the residents of the city of Auburn and Union Township pay per person to support the library through their property taxes. If you live in an unserved area and wish to have a portion of your tax dollars go towards funding the library, please consult your township trustee.
*Student Cards: $10.00
*All students eligible to attend DeKalb Central Schools may purchase a library card for $10.00 with a maximum charge of $30 per family. Those students who receive free and reduced lunches can purchase a summer card for $5.00 with a maximum charge of $30 per family.

Join a Book Club
Interested in joining a book club? Eckhart Public Library has two adult book clubs, a teen book club, and a children’s book club. All are welcome to join! Eckhart Public Library also loans book club sets to other libraries and personal book clubs. Check out our available collections, and email firstname.lastname@example.org if you’re interested in borrowing a set. Find out more!
Request an Item
Need to request an item? Fill out our Item Request Form, and we’ll get your items requested as soon as we can.
Effective January 1, there will be a monthly limit on how many item requests (new item and interlibrary loan requests) a library user can place through the online form on EPL’s website. Library users making new item and interlibrary loan requests may request up to 20 items a month. Any requests in excess of this number will have to be resubmitted by the library user when a new month begins

Request a Meeting Room
When Charles Eckhart offered a library to the city of Auburn, he stated that he wanted a room which would be available, free of charge to the public. In keeping with these wishes and recognizing the need to provide this service to the community, the Eckhart Public Library Board of Trustees offers several meeting rooms in library buildings.
These rooms, and the entire Eckhart Public Library campus, have free WiFi. The rooms are available for non-profit groups who wish to hold meetings or present programs of civic, educational, or cultural purposes. Events of a personal nature such as birthdays, anniversary parties, showers, etc. are not permitted.

Become a Friend of the Library
The Friends of Eckhart Public Library, Inc. in Auburn, Indiana is a non-profit organization whose enthusiastic support makes many special library programs possible. Their book sales are dedicated to making significant contributions to the steady growth of the library and its services to the community. Friends help promote the library by sponsoring activities which encourage reading and broaden the user base of the library. Sponsored activities include: Annual Book Sales, Giving Thanks Silent Auction, Adult Programming, Book Clubs, Reading Clubs, Volunteer Luncheons, Teen Programing, Children’s Programing.
Print at the Library
Eckhart Public Library can print documents, images, and other digital files at any of our public buildings. Black and white printing is fifteen cents a page, and color printing is fifty cents a page. Patrons are also able to print wireleslly from home or their own device. To print wirelessly, please visit our mobile printing site.
Public faxing is also available at The Main Library. It is one dollar per page to send a fax with a maximum cost of ten dollars per transaction.
