Library Closed: Labor Day

The Eckhart Public Library campus will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, August 29, and be closed on Saturday, August 30, and Monday, September 1 in observance of Labor Day. The library campus will reopen on Tuesday, September 2. 

The Teen Library will be closed on Friday, August 29. Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!

eBook Day

Get ready for a celebration of eBooks on an international scale! On Thursday, September 18th, library patrons and students are invited to take part in the largest digital reading event to show appreciation and raise awareness for eBooks.

On September 18th, OverDrive (provider for EPL's ebooks and eAudiobooks) will participate by giving away tablets and devices every hour through social media to readers who tell their eBook story on Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #eBookDay. They can also comment directly on

Vote for Your Favorite Science Fiction Movie!

We're ending the summer with a tribute to the best science fiction movie ever!  

Choose from the American Film Institute's list of the ten greatest sci fi movies ever made.  Disagree with what they chose?  Add your favorite to the "other" category.  

The movie with the most votes will be shown on Saturday, August 23rd at the Genealogy Center's Learning Lab.  There will be popcorn and drinks for all!

Sign up is open for some of the Children's Department great programs!

Sign up is open for:

Preschool Storytime, for children 2-6 years old, meets once a week to explore a different theme with books, songs, fingerplays, games, and crafts 

Toddler Friends 1 2 3, where children 18 months to 3 years old and their parents, grandparents, or caregivers participate in center-based learning, story, music, and fingerplays 

Wee Reads Storytime, a story for children 12-24 months old and their caregivers that includes books, songs, action rhymes, and fingerplays.
