A very special celebrity will be at Eckhart Public Library on Saturday, December 17!

That’s right – Santa Claus will be at the library from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The jolly old elf will share his favorite Christmas story beside the fireplace at the historic main library while children of all ages enjoy cookies and milk.

Each child will also have the opportunity to have a photograph with Santa free of charge, thanks to The Studio on Main Street.

Here’s what else is happening around the library campus during the week of December 12:

  • Teen Photography Club: This social group promotes sharing photography experiences, ideas, knowledge, and most of all, fun! We will discuss a multitude of topics along with assigning weekly photography challenges. In addition to our regular club meetings, we will showcase members’ photographs in the lower level of the teen library. Monday, December 12, 5-6 p.m., Teen Library.
  • Repurposed Gifts: ‘Tis the season to get crafty! Stop by Eckhart Public Library and make holiday decorations and gifts using old books. Enjoy hot cocoa and holiday treats. Please register by calling 260-925-2414 ext. 120 or by emailing reference@epl.lib.in.us. Monday, December 12, 6-7:30 p.m., Close Community Room.
  • Cocoa and Crafty Tuesdays at Teen: Join us every Tuesday in December to drink some cocoa and make some Christmas gifts for your family and friends. Brought to you by the Teen Advisory Board. Tuesday, December 13, 4-5 p.m., Teen Library.
  • Pokemon Club for Teens: Pokemon enthusiasts in grades 6-12 are invited to bring their cards to the teen library and battle. Participants will go home with all their cards, as trading is not encouraged.  Pokemon club is free and no sign up is required. Tuesday, December 13, 4-5 p.m., Teen Library.
  • Drop-In Storytime Enrichment Class: Storytime Enrichment Classes are a fantastic opportunity for children to access a world of creativity and discovery. These classes are designed to help children reach their full potential through stories, games, crafts, and activities that encourage early literacy skills. Classes are free, and a library card is not needed to attend. Tuesday, December 13, 6:30-7:15 p.m., Secret Garden.
  • Creative Writing Group: All writers 18 and older, no matter what genre, are encouraged to attend. Group members share their writing and participate in writing exercises. Tuesday, December 13, 6:30-8 p.m., JHG Room.
  • Wild Wednesday Adventure Clubs – LEGO Club: Come join us at the library for LEGO Club. No registration is required! We supply the LEGOs and you create the masterpiece. Wild Wednesday Adventure Clubs are for children in grades 1-5. Wednesday, December 14, 4-4:45 p.m., Secret Garden.
  • Super Happy Fun Time – Creativity & Cookies: We will use a variety of supplies to create unique ornaments. Super Happy Fun Time is for children in kindergarten through fifth grade. Thursday, December 15, 4-4:45 p.m., Secret Garden.
  • Knifty Knitters: Beginning and experienced knitters and crocheters are welcome. Struggling with a problem pattern? Help is available from this group. Thursday, December 15, 6-7:45 p.m., Main Library.

  • Milk & Cookies with Santa: Children of all ages are invited to enjoy cookies and milk while Jolly Old St. Nicholas shares his favorite Christmas story beside the fireplace at historic Eckhart Public Library.
